The Mollino Collection CM 2020
by Zanotta
Established in 1954, Zanotta is one of the recognized leaders in Italian industrial design, and was among the first ones to include works by the great Masters in its catalogue. Zanotta has significantly contributed to re-discover Carlo Mollino’s works and first began reproducing Mollino’s work in 1982.
Carlo Mollino, versatile personality from the Turin of '50s, is remembered as an architect, artist, designer and photographer. But even as being fond of cars, airplanes and winter sports, all aspects well present in his creativity: in the sinuous curves of the wooden frames that support his tables you may retrace the snow-covered slopes and the tracks where he used to drive his fast cars. In the metal joints connecting the design objects there is a memory of the aviation engineering works. His alpine architectures show frames rising up into the sky.
And now, based on deeper research and technical advances, is rereleasing a new edition of eight of his most iconic furniture pieces designed between the ’30s and ’50s. Eight tribute pieces, all featuring the initials CM, make up the Mollino Collection 2020 that balance faithfulness to his ideas with increased ingenuity.
